The Lion Fish population moving from the native Indian Ocean region to the Gulf of Mexico/Atlantic Ocean region was so successful because not only did the Lion Fish move there in large amounts, but there are less threatening predators to the Lion Fish in this region than from their native region. Also, the warmer waters allow the Lion Fish to live a longer higher quality of life. Many are asking if something should be done to stop the invasive Lion Fish, however they do not pose that big of a threat. Although, I could see that as their population in the southern Florida region grows, they could start to pose a great threat to local prey.
